Cross-institutional Study

UTC recognises that knowledge, understanding and skills achieved through previous training/education, work and life experiences can be used as evidence for formal recognition and also exemption from certain subjects in various courses.

The maximum amount of RPL (Recognised Prior Learning) available is 144 credit points (undergraduate), 54 credit points (graduate), and 18 credit points (postgraduate).The RPL process and policy followed by UTC is in line with current university practices. It is also a process that requires applicants to provide adequate evidence that RPL is justified. If such evidence is not provided RPL cannot be granted.

If you are interested in applying for RPL towards a course at UTC tick the box on the application form that asks if you would like to include a review of your previous study by the course coordinator and they can assess if you can receive any credits.  You must include a verified photocopy of your transcript for review with your application.

Below is an example of the different types of evidence that can be submitted to demonstrate the extent to which you have attained listed subject outcomes:

• Academic Transcripts or Statements of Attainment;
• module, subject or topic descriptions from other institutions;
• module, subject or topic curriculum outlines from other institutions;
