These courses provide a basic introduction to the main areas of theology, including biblical studies, theological studies, church history, and mission and pastoral studies.

About the course

This course provides two-year full-time equivalent (sixteen subjects) course in theology. The course is an introduction to the main areas of theology including biblical studies, theological studies, church history, and pastoral and worship studies.

Aims

  • To provide a course in theology for students for whom a one or two-year study program is their preferred option.
  • To introduce students to foundational areas of study across the general theological curriculum.
  • To provide a platform and incentive for on going theological study.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course students will have:

  • acquired basic knowledge in biblical studies, theological studies and church history.
  • developed basic skills in critical thinking in theology.
  • an understanding of current developments in theological and biblical studies and their relevance to ministry.
  • contexts.
  • capacity to undertake further studies in theology beyond the University Certificate and Diploma level.

Further Study

The structure of the Bachelor of Theology is such that regardless of the combination of restricted electives a student completes in the
Diploma, upon admission of the student to the Bachelor, all subjects completed in the Diploma will fit into the Bachelor structure and all the requirements are able to be met.
