Ben Myers | We say thanks & best wishes

We say thank you and send our best wishes to our colleague and friend Ben Myers who will be returning home to Queensland and starting a new theological role with the Mills Institute.

United Theological College would like to thank and take a moment to reflect on the wonderful work and passion of our colleague Ben Myers BA (Hons) PhD, our lecturer in Systematic Theology.

From the moment Ben arrived in Sydney in February 2009, his drive and love for teaching was clear to the entire UTC family.

During his nine year tenure at UTC, Ben has engaged with over 400+ theological students, has spent an estimated 1,800 hours teaching face-to-face at The Centre for Ministry, penned three publications Salvation in my Pocket: Fragments of Faith & TheologyChrist the Stranger: The Theology of Rowan Williams, The Apostles’ Creed: A Guide to the Ancient Catechism (May 2018), published 20 articles/chapters, supervised 12 research theses at Honours, Masters, and PhD level, and collaborated with hundreds more theological communities, colleagues and congregations through his work.

For many students and staff, it will be Ben’s sense of humour and wit that shall be missed most – but we know that we can keep in regular and close contact with him via his active twitter account musings (Ben Myers @FaithTheology) or via his regular blogs posts via

The entire community of United Theological College, Uniting Mission & Education and Uniting Venues wish our friend and colleague Ben Myers every success and happiness with his move home to family and friends in Queensland and on his next theological and teaching adventures in Brisbane at Millis Institute. Ben has accepted the position of Executive Director of the Millis Institute, a liberal arts program at Christian Heritage College (CHC) and will begin his work there in January 2018.

We invite you to join United Theological College on Wednesday 8 November 2017,  located at the Centre for Ministry, 16 Masons Drive North Parramatta for a  Closure of Ministry Service at 7PM. RSVP: [email protected]

  1. I will miss Ben’s food, psalm readings, wealth of christology knowledge and appreciation of my liberation theology christology writings. Doing Introduction to christian theology, The Triune God, briefly God, humanity and difference and Jesus the Christ with Ben resulted in my home Christology library growing to the size of my home marxist library. What I loved most about Ben is his love of teaching good christology and will miss a good christology teacher that never judged a used good book by it’s cover but by the content of it’s pages
